Experience the Thrill of the McFarlane Fly-in

We are having our annual McFarlane Fly-in on the 4th weekend in September at the McFarlane Field. September 27 is the main day. BBQ provided on Saturday at 1pm. Looking forward to another great time! Important Things to Note

Driving Directions: From Turlock, head South on Lander Ave (165). Turn Right on Fowler Rd. Fowler
dead-ends into the airfield.
Coordinates: 37.26.22 N 120.51.50 W
Runway: 1600 ft x 85 ft sod. Runway aligns with 340 and 160. Elevation 92 ft.
Procedures: Use air-to-air frequency: 122.75 Left traffic, no straight-ins.

If you’re flying a Cirrus… don’t.
Our runway prefers taildraggers, not parachutes. Cirrus landings are not allowed at McFarlane Field and will be promptly redirected. Fly safe — somewhere else.

Runway Cautions:
There is a rounded levy, or hump, in the middle of the field just west of the pole barn by the house. It is rounded gently, but be aware it can put you back in the air on landing, or put you in the air too soon on takeoff.
There is an irrigation valve on short final while landing to the north, so don’t come in too low.
The south half of the runway is 105′ wide, but it narrows to 85′ wide at the hump. Plan on using the west side of the runway.
The sod is hard, but somewhat bumpy. Check for gopher mounds, as they are frequently on the runway.
Runway does not align with the prevailing winds, and there is usually a quartering left crosswind.
If landing to the south, use caution and expect some turbulence on short final downwind from the hangar.

READ CAREFULLY – THIS AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS

This waiver pertains to Aircraft Operations at McFarlane Field, where Aircraft Operations include but are not limited to landing, taxiing, parking/tie-down, take-offs, static displays, fly-bys, and aerial demonstrations. These activities may be scheduled or unscheduled and are organized or hosted by William McFarlane or Donald McFarlane or other family members including, but not limited to, Bradley, Barry, Scott, or Matthew McFarlane (hereafter referred to as “The McFarlanes”). McFarlane Field includes the private sod airstrip, hangar, and surrounding land located in Turlock, CA at the west end of Fowler Rd.

In exchange for participation in the McFarlane Fly-In, I, the undersigned, agree for myself and (if applicable) my family and guests to the following terms:

Rules and Instructions
I agree to observe and obey all posted signs, safety rules, briefings, and verbal instructions issued by The McFarlanes or their representatives. I will comply with all applicable FAA regulations and exercise caution on the ground and in the air.
Assumption of Risk
I recognize and voluntarily assume the inherent risks associated with aviation activities, including but not limited to: damage to my aircraft, personal injury or death, injury to my family members or guests, and environmental hazards such as weather, crosswinds, gopher mounds, or uneven surfaces. These risks may be caused by myself, my passengers, other participants, environmental conditions, equipment failure, or other factors.
Release of Liability
I hereby release and discharge The McFarlanes, including all owners, agents, volunteers, or sponsors, from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, or losses resulting from injury, death, or property damage, whether caused by the negligence of the Releasees, myself, or others.
Third-Party Actions
I understand that The McFarlanes are not responsible for the actions, omissions, or negligence of any third party conducting a specific event or activity on their behalf.
Emergency Medical Authorization
In the event that I or a family member require medical care, I authorize The McFarlanes to provide or seek emergency first aid, CPR, AED, and medical transport as deemed necessary. I agree to assume all related costs and acknowledge that I am responsible for my own medical insurance.
Indemnification
I agree to indemnify and defend The McFarlanes against all claims, damages, legal costs, and attorney fees resulting from my or my family’s actions, including negligence, recklessness, or failure to follow instructions.
Responsibility for Property Damage
I agree to pay for all damages to the McFarlane Field facilities, property, or other aircraft caused by me or my family’s negligent, reckless, or willful actions.
Image and Media Release
I grant The McFarlanes the right to use my name, image, likeness, and statements in photos, video, media, or promotional content for future fly-ins or documentation purposes.
Legal Jurisdiction
Any disputes or claims shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of California, and jurisdiction shall reside in Stanislaus County.
Severability
If any part of this agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining sections shall continue in full force and effect.
